Women's ceremonial headpiece from the 20th century. The top of a headdress in a crouching pose with stocky legs called a “Epaku”. Typically worn by aristocratic women acting as chiefs during the “Kaleak baba” ceremony to invoke blessings for a successful harvest, hunting and fertility. The figures are thought to be a slain enemy. The ceremonies ended with feasting.
